World Risk Developments December 2021

In our final edition of the year we look back at 2021 and forward to 2022

The world economic and trade recovery in 2021 was strong but uneven, influenced by the effects of policy stimulus, vaccine rollouts, ongoing COVID-19 disruptions and financial market and commodity price volatility. We look ahead to prospects for growth in advanced and emerging markets in 2022 and outline key risks that could derail the recovery. Against a backdrop of high uncertainty, we discuss prospects for Australian rural, resources, manufacturing and services exporters in the coming year.
