Government

As the Government’s export credit agency, we work with a range of Australian Government stakeholders to support their objectives. We also work closely with international counterparts, multilateral organisations and other stakeholders to deliver on our mandate and represent Australia.

The Australian Government

We are part of the Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio and the Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment is our responsible Minister.

We are accountable to the Federal Parliament. Each year, we table our Annual Report in Parliament. We are also subject to Parliamentary questions, the Senate Estimates process, periodic reviews by the Australian Government and regularly appear before Australian Parliamentary inquiries.

International engagement

We are active internationally. We work closely with other international export credit agencies and multilateral agencies, including the Berne Union and the Asian Exim Bank Forum. This enables us to share best practices and identify new ways to deliver on our mandates.

Australia is an active member of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). As such, we are subject to various OECD requirements such as the OECD Arrangement on Officially Supported Export Credits. Further details can be found here.

We engage with other international stakeholders to ensure we remain aligned with international best practices. We comply with the Equator Principles, which are used for determining, accessing and managing environmental and social risk in projects. The Principles ensure that projects we finance are socially responsible and reflect sound environmental management practices.
