Export Finance Australia (EFA) and Bpifrance Assurance Export (BAE) acknowledge the growing economic and strategic relationship between Australia and France, including through the Australia-European Union Free Trade Agreement, and are proud to announce strengthened cooperation with a focus on priority sectors and regions, such as critical minerals, clean energy, Southeast Asia and Indo-Pacific infrastructure.

In line with their mandates as the official export credit agencies of Australia and France, EFA and BAE will work together in the following areas:

  • exploring opportunities for partnerships to strengthen supply chains between Australia and France aligned with mandates and national priorities, including critical minerals and clean energy;
  • identifying projects for potential co-financing, including in Southeast Asia and infrastructure in the Indo-Pacific; and
  • sharing information on experiences providing finance in sectors and countries of key interest, such as critical minerals.

EFA and BAE may co-operate in the provision of support for projects in their respective countries, or for projects in third countries which involve the supply of Australian and French goods and services, including for critical mineral refining for onward export or import. With regard to infrastructure projects in the Indo-Pacific region, EFA may consider support for projects on an untied basis.

This cooperation marks a significant step forward in the realisation of EFA and BAE’s shared ambition on partnership development and economic resilience, with the intent to support deepening two-way trade and investment between Australia and France and cooperation in priority regions.
